Return of SpaceX spacecraft to Earth further delayed due to weather

Oct 18, 2024

Washington [US], October 18: The return to Earth of crew members on board the International Space Station (ISS) since March has been further delayed due to adverse weather conditions, the US space agency NASA said on Thursday. The capsule of the Crew-8, which includes astronauts Matthew Dominick, Michael Barratt, Jeanette Epps and Russian cosmonaut Alexander Grebenkin, was originally due to fly back to Earth about two weeks ago. But Hurricane Milton disrupted this plan, and a return flight for Friday has now been postponed due to unfavourable weather conditions for a landing off the coast of Florida, NASA said. If conditions improve, the return journey on board the Crew Dragon, which is owned by Elon Musk's private space company SpaceX, could take place on Sunday, it said. (dpa)
