Mar 15, 2025
Paris [France], March 15: French President Emmanuel Macron on Friday called on Russia to accept a 30-day ceasefire proposal formulated during the U.S.-Ukraine meeting in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, earlier this week.
In a statement on his official X account, Macron said he had spoken separately with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Friday.
He also announced that a video conference would be held on Saturday to discuss measures aimed at "strengthening support for Ukraine and achieving a strong and lasting peace."
Ukraine agreed on Tuesday to a U.S. proposal for an "immediate, interim 30-day ceasefire" following discussions with a U.S. delegation in Jeddah. The talks, which took place without European participation, resulted in a commitment for renewed U.S. security assistance to Ukraine, while the United States secured preliminary approval for access to Ukraine's mineral resources.
