Kathmandu [Nepal], May 5: At least five people were killed and 19 others injured on Wednesday when a jeep collided with a minibus in Nepal's Kavrepalanchowk district.
The jeep with 13 passengers onboard was heading toward Kathmandu, Nepal's capital, when it ran into the minibus carrying 26 Indian nationals, local police said, noting all the injured, with one in critical condition, were receiving treatment at a local hospital.
"All the deceased are Nepalis who were traveling on the jeep," Hari Khatiwada, a senior police officer in Kavrepalanchowk, told Xinhua.
A preliminary investigation found that the jeep was overspeeding before it lost control and hit the minibus, Khatiwada said.
The minibus with an Indian plate was carrying tourists from the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, he noted, and 11 Indians were among the injured.
