40 fighters to fly over Tehran on Army Day

Tehran [Iran], April 17: More than 40 different types of fighter jets will fly over Tehran in formation on Tuesday to celebrate the day of the Iranian Army, Tasnim news agency reported. This year's celebration will be quite different as fighter jets from all over the country will manoeuvre in a concentrated manner, the commander of Iran's Air Force, Brigadier General Amir Hamid Vahedi, said. Improving pilots' expertise, evaluating the air operational units and strengthening the air borders are among the goals of this aerial manoeuvre. The Iranian army also described the parade as a declaration of readiness to respond to any threat and a show of strength to the country's enemies. (DPA)
